Welcome to my little place on the internet — make yourself at home! My name is Carmine, an engineer by trade and an autodidact by temperament. I am N days into a life I already feel the brevity of.

I keep the timer because it serves as a reminder that there are few things you can accomplish in this life, so pay attention! Continue the work even if you do not feel like it, and persevere with a certain patience and rigor.

I've concluded that there are a few questions that I am both drawn to and I find worthy. Firstly, how do we preserve our privacy in an age built to erode it? What are we really building when we make machine intelligence? How might we build a future resilient enough to hold those who come after us?

These questions deal with concrete subject matter, in the mean time I still find myself preoccupied with other matters related to my faith and trying to make sense of it all. Homo sapiens have been here a long time, the world even longer. I am around for a flash of human existence, I just hope to spend the approximately (and very uncertain) 79 years I have making the world slightly better.

I do not have a dedicated 'about' page, so I leave it as an exercise to the reader to explore all the paths I leave on this page. What we have here is unfinished and likely hastened essays, notes and thoughts. More importantly, it acts as an account of a soul in motion. Always down to chat through Signal or email.
